HORSE The Band’s frontman, Nathan Winneke, is currently confronting a serious health struggle.

The metalcore band, known for their unique music blending heavy, technical riffs with retro gaming sound chips, has built a devoted following through their one-of-a-kind music.

During the band’s breakthrough in the 2000s, they delivered a string of notable songs, including their signature hits "Cutsman" as well as "Birdo" and "Murder".

However, amid their continued success, their frontman is facing a major setback with his health.

Winneke revealed he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic disorder of the nervous system affecting the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.

According to Mayo Clinic, in patients with MS, the immune system “attacks the protective covering of the nerve cells in the brain and optic nerve,” which eventually “interrupts communication between the brain and the rest of the body.”

The vocalist’s health status led him to launch a GoFundMe page seeking financial support for his medical expenses.

“My name is Nathan, and I’m reaching out for support as I navigate life with Multiple Sclerosis. Since my diagnosis, the medical bills have piled up quickly, and the illness has made it impossible for me to continue working. On top of managing my health, I also have a family who depends on me, which makes this journey even more challenging,” the statement reads as mentioned on his page.

The 49-year-old musician also explained the impact of MS on his life and family and expressed appreciation for any support, especially during this difficult time.

“The funds raised will go directly toward my ongoing treatments, medications, and the monthly expenses that have become difficult to manage. Every bit of support will help ease the financial burden on my family and allow me to focus on my health and well-being. Living with MS means facing new obstacles every day, from physical symptoms to emotional stress, and your support can make a real difference in my life. I’m grateful for any help you can offer, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story. Thank you for taking the time to read about my situation and for considering a contribution to help me and my family during this difficult time,” the message says.

His fundraising goal is $12,000 and he has nearly raised $7,000 as of this writing.

Amid the absence of their frontman, the cult-favorite Nintendocore pioneers have a list of shows lined up this year.

This includes joining Dance Gavin Dance as a performer along with the bands The Fall of Troy, Wolf & Bear and Novelists.

The show will kick off in June in Texas and wrap up in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 1.
