Tricia Helfer has signed up for OnlyFans.

The Battlestar Galactica actress is sharing why she is active on the platform.

Shannon Elizabeth recently earned more than seven figures in her first week on OnlyFans.

Battlestar Galactica alum Tricia Helfer is the latest well-known actress to join OnlyFans.

The former model recently launched her own profile on the platform, and she's now opening up about the decision.

"At my age, I am in my 'do what I want' phase of life," Helfer told PEOPLE. "I'm tired of being told what to do and how to do it. I'm looking at it as something to have fun with and something that I can be in control of."

Helfer said she's looking forward to tapping into the "sexier side of my brand." Her photos will be a mix of "artistic shots with great photographers" and pictures and videos of "quiet and silly times" at home as she feeds her goats or waters her garden.

"I enjoy shocking a little bit," she shared. "Would I shock my parents with the images? Probably. But they saw [me in] Playboy [in 2007], and they appreciated why I had done it. My passion is my job as an actor, and I'm using this platform as an extension of my creative, fun and flirty side."

Helfer is best known for her memorable run as humanoid Number Six on the sci-fi classic Battlestar Galactica. Her other credits include arcs on Burn Notice, Two and a Half Men, Suits, and Lucifer. She also was recently cast in the fifth and final season of Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer.

This continues a recent run of actresses signing up for OnlyFans. Earlier this month, My Name Is Earl star and Emmy winner Jaime Pressly joined the platform, and American Pie alum Shannon Elizabeth made "more than seven figures" in her first week.

"Most people I've talked to have been very supportive," Helfer said. "I've had a few people that are not involved with my page be concerned, and rightly so. I'm not saying there shouldn't be concern. But I tell them, 'Hey, this is what I'm doing. I'm in control of it. I don't have to post anything I don't want to post. I'm not being pushed into anything, and I can shut it down whenever I want if I decide to.'"

She added, "Am I pushing some of my own boundaries? Probably. But I have to press the upload button, right?"
