The first day of competition has concluded at the Big 12 wrestling tournament, and a familiar team has risen to the top of the leaderboard.
Oklahoma State, the No. 3 team in the country, not only finished in first place after the first day of competition with 154.5 team points — 32 points ahead of second-place Iowa State — but also placed wrestlers in eight out of 10 finals matches on Saturday, March 7. Arizona State is in a further distant third, with 78.5 points.

While it seems the Cowboys are in great position to claim yet another Big 12 tournament championship, there's also the matter of filling out the remaining allotment of NCAA tournament qualifiers. The NCAA has allotted 63 qualifiers for the Big 12 Conference based on the final individual standings of the tournament, with 48 secured on Friday, March 6.
