Paul Feig says Blake Lively is “soldiering on” amid the It Ends with Us legal drama

Lively sued Justin Baldoni in December 2024 alleging sexual harassment and retaliation; he has denied the claims

The trial is currently scheduled for May 18

Blake Lively is “soldiering on” amid her ongoing legal battle tied to It Ends with Us, according to her friend and frequent collaborator Paul Feig.

While speaking on the 2026 Oscars red carpet, the director offered an update on the actress as her bitter legal battle with Justin Baldoni ,42, continues.

“Blake is great. She's great. She's just, you know, soldiering on and she's such a great mom and that's such the biggest part of her life that she just continues to be wonderful and their kids are great and she has a happy marriage and I love her,” Feig told Extra at the event.

Feig, 62, has worked closely with Lively, 38, directing her in the 2018 thriller A Simple Favor and its recent sequel, Another Simple Favor.

In a previous interview, the filmmaker also pushed back on online narratives about Lively that surfaced after her legal dispute with Baldoni.

“Blake is an amazing collaborator, so when I read people’s misconceptions about how movies are made, it’s just frustrating for me,” Feig told Esquire in April 2025. “Every star I’ve worked with works this way. The idea that a star just shows up and you go ‘Here’s the script’ — please point me to one movie star who works that way."

Lively has recently been spotted spending time with her family. Earlier this month, she and husband Ryan Reynolds, 49, were seen in the stands at a Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup) match between Wrexham — which is co-owned by the Deadpool actor — and Chelsea in Wales.

Meanwhile, the legal battle tied to It Ends with Us remains ongoing.

In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York accusing Baldoni and other defendants of sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni has denied the allegations, and Lively is seeking more than $160 million in damages.

Baldoni later filed a $400 million countersuit accusing Lively of extortion and defamation, though a judge later dismissed those claims.

In February, Lively and Baldoni participated in a court-ordered mediation session, though the settlement conference ended without a resolution in Lively’s lawsuit.

Both actors are expected to testify if the case proceeds to trial, which is currently scheduled to begin May 18. Judge Lewis J. Liman has not yet ruled on the defendants’ request to dismiss the claims.
