The next two seasons of Bridgerton are already planned out

Showrunner Jess Brownell gave a hint about which characters the next two seasons will follow ahead of the season 4 premiere

Part 1 of Bridgerton season 4 premieres Jan. 29 on Netflix

Bridgerton season 4 hasn't even premiered yet, but the Netflix team behind the hit series is already looking ahead.

Adapted from Julia Quinn's book series, each season of the regency drama has followed a single Bridgerton sibling and their journey to find love. Season 4 follows Benedict (Luke Thompson), and is based on An Offer from a Gentleman. The series, meanwhile, was renewed for seasons 5 and 6 in May.

Quinn previously told PEOPLE that it was "really clear" from the beginning of the adaptations that "they had a long plan and were really thinking about all the books" as they mapped out the future of the series — and it seems that planning is holding up.

At the premiere of season 4, part 1 in Paris on Wednesday, Jan. 14, showrunner Jess Brownell told Deadline that her embroidered pocket square contained a clue about which character will lead the forthcoming season.

Her white pocket square was embroidered with the letters E and F, seemingly a reference to Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Francesca (Hannah Dodd).“Both characters with the initials on my pocket square will get seasons in 5 and 6,” she told the outlet.

Brownell played coy, though, about whether Eloise or Francesca would be first. “In what order? I can’t say," she said.

Work has already begun on season 5, executive producer Shonda Rhimes previously confirmed.

"The writers are in the writer’s room working on that, so I know what season 5 is all about from beginning to end," she said on Sirius XM in October 2025.

She teased that season 5 is "a really sexy season ... But then again, I say that about season 4."

"They’re just sexy in different ways," she said. "And I think that’s what’s great.”

Season 4 will follow the Cinderella story between Benedict and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), as the family's second son who is "loath to settle down" finds his world turned upside when he meets "a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball."

Bridgerton season 4 will premiere on Netflix in two installments: Part 1 drops Jan. 29 followed by Part 2 on Feb. 26.
