Nasir Core draws ridicule from NBA fans after making a confident 1-on-1 claim involving Lakers guard Bronny James.

Nasir Core isn’t exactly short on confidence when it comes to his 1-on-1 game. After already getting people talking with one NBA matchup, the social media personality decided there were a few more names he wouldn’t mind seeing across from him.

One of those names belongs to the James family, and that was more than enough to get basketball fans going. Once Core’s latest comments started making the rounds, plenty of people had something to say about his chances.

NBA Community Rags on Nasir Core After Boldly Claiming He Can Take Bronny James 1-on-1

Core caught plenty of attention earlier this month when he said he could beat Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell 1-on-1. He got clowned for it, but the former Florida A&M guard clearly wasn’t done naming NBA players.

On Friday, he added a few more names that he thought would not win against him in a head-to-head matchup.

“I never said I was the better 5-on-5 basketball player than nobody. … I said I’m the best 1-on-1 player. … They was mad at me about the TJ McConnell thing but I can name more people in the NBA that I can beat 1-on-1. Bronny (James), Marcus Smart, we can go down the line.”

Like before, Core’s statement promptly drew strong reactions from the NBA community.

“Bronny smoking him,” one observer predicted.

“Mf’s are genuinely brainrotted. Dude’s getting 21-0’d,” another NBA observer added.

“Bro, he’s an actual (expletive). Lol. He truly believes this real talk. Dude’s be delusional,” a basketball enthusiast reacted.

Everyone was unanimous in declaring who would win in a showdown between LeBron James’ son and the BIG3 player.

“Bronny will (expletive) this man,” an X user commented.

“No troll. Bronny might look like 2018 LeBron with Nas on the other side of the court,” a Golden State Warriors supporter remarked.

“Bronny will dog walk yo (expletive) to irrelevancy. tf yo (expletive) talm bout?” another X user doubled down on the same prediction.

Somebody shared a reason why Core is making such claims.

“I’m telling y’all he’s just doing the Jake Paul thing. He doesn’t care about winning or losing. He’s chasing a bag,” a podcaster tweeted.

Core isn’t simply some random internet hooper calling out NBA players, though. The 6-foot-3 guard played college basketball at Florida A&M before carving out a name in the 1-on-1 scene and the BIG3.

He suited up for the Detroit Amps this season as a co-captain and even dropped 31 points in a July game, also setting a BIG3 single-game scoring record for points in a single half (29).

The players on his list are operating at a different level, though. James remains with the Los Angeles Lakers after being selected No. 55 in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Smart, meanwhile, is entering his 13th NBA season after signing with the Houston Rockets. The veteran guard also has a Defensive Player of the Year award and three All-Defensive First Team selections on his résumé.

Core certainly has the game to make his challenges more than empty internet talk. His confidence might be even harder to contain. For now, though, James and Smart haven’t accepted the invitation, leaving Core undefeated against both of them in the safest arena possible: the hypothetical one.
