Chappell Roan is no stranger to one-of-a-kind red carpet looks — but her latest one is a tribute to 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Cyndi Lauper.
The pop star, who is set to induct Lauper at this year's ceremony, wowed fans with a bedazzled top, chandelier-inspired headdress, and wide-rimmed skirt covered in newspaper clippings.
Though the look is consistent with Roan's signature style — fans realized it was actually a nod to Lauper's "True Colors" music video released in 1986.

On Lauper's Instagram Story, she shared a photo of the two meeting and holding hands before the ceremony. After Roan inducts her into the Hall of Fame, Lauper is scheduled to perform alongside Avril Lavigne.

"True Colors" was both the title track and the first single released from Lauper's second studio album of the same name.
The song spent two weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 — a feat Lauper has only achieved twice and has not replicated since. To date, it remains one of her most beloved tracks by fans.
In a shocking coincidence, Roan auditioned for America's Got Talent with "True Colors" when she was only 13, however, she did not advance in the competition.
The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony airs on Disney+ starting at 8 p.m. EST on Nov. 8. ABC will also air a primetime special on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, with streaming available on Hulu the next day.
