Denise Richards is keeping family at the heart of her holiday season.
The actress, 54, stepped out with her daughter Eloise, 14, at Kathy and Nicky Hilton’s annual Pajama Party in Los Angeles, Calif., on Tuesday, Nov. 4, and spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the traditions that make the holidays special for her family.
“We usually go to Montana as a family and rent a big cabin,” Richards says, noting that the trip has become a meaningful yearly ritual. “My sister lives there, so it’s nice to get all of the kids together and my dad and my sister and the girls and her boys. It’s just nice to be with family.”

The snowy getaway also gives the group a chance to make memories outside together. “We usually stay in Whitefish to go skiing or snowboarding,” she says. “So we’ll always go out and play in the snow every year.”
Richards adds that one former tradition might make a comeback soon. “We used to go to the movies every year on Christmas Day,” she explains. “I don’t know why we don’t do that anymore. We probably should.”
Richards and her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, welcomed daughter Sami in 2004 and daughter Lola the following year. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum welcomed Eloise via adoption in 2011.

Aaron Phypers and Richards began dating in June 2017, and he began the process of legally adopting Eloise following their surprise Malibu wedding in 2018. Phypers filed for divorce from Richards in July.
Holiday trips also give Richards and her kids a chance to slow down and reconnect. For Richards, ensuring everyone is together is the most meaningful tradition of all. “Making sure that we all get together” is what matters most, she says.
"I'm most proud of raising my kids, especially in a time that is very different from how I was raised," Richards told PEOPLE in 2019. "It's extremely hard to keep children grounded. This is not an easy time to grow up."
Richards dished on her family's festivities as Nicky and Kathy, together with QVC, hosted their annual Pajama Party featuring festive attire from the Printfresh x Kathy Hilton Collection with a special edition pajama set. The event also offered stunning accessories from Anna Zuckerman, Hulken Bags, and TheoGrace x Nicky Hilton.
In addition to preparing for the holidays, Richards is also gearing up for a major reunion. She’ll be heading to BravoCon this year, which is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, and takes place from Nov. 14 through Nov. 16. “I am,” she confirms. “Oh, I’m excited to go.”
Richards previously attended Bravo’s fan convention during its inaugural year, but this will be her first time back since then. She’s looking forward to reuniting with a few familiar faces in particular.
“I’m very good friends with Caroline Stanbury, so it’ll be nice to see her,” Richards shares. “And Camille [Grammer]— she and I are doing something together, so I’m excited.”
