Drake bet $1 million on the New England Patriots winning the 2026 Super Bowl

If the rapper's bet is correct, he will win $2.95 million

Fans are joking that his bet means the Seattle Seahawks will win the Big Game after years of the Drake Curse conspiracy

Drake is betting on a New England Patriots win, much to the disappointment of some fans.

The "God's Plan" rapper shared in a Saturday, Feb. 7, Instagram post that he bet $1 million on the Patriots beating the Seattle Seahawks during the 2026 Super Bowl.

“Bet against me if you dare 😂😂😂” he wrote in the caption, tagging the betting platform Stake. A picture of his wager shows that, should Patriots quarterback Drake Maye lead the team to victory, the singer would get a $2.95 million prize.

While Boston-native and avid Patriots fan Mark Wahlberg supported Drake’s decision, commenting “SMART MAN🙌❤️🙌” on the post, other followers are not as hopeful.

“Congrats to the Seahawks,” one person wrote, and another echoed, “Seahawks are officially super bowl champions”

The quips are in reference to the viral Drake Curse theory.

On newsstands now, PEOPLE's latest special edition issue covers his groundbreaking career, from his earliest days to headlining the Super Bowl LX halftime show and making history at the Grammys. The 96-page issue is now on Amazon. A print edition in Spanish is available exclusively here.

The sports theory states that whatever team Drake supports loses. The conspiracy comes after years of the musician’s public betting losses, like losing a $60,000 bet in 2016 to French Montana over the NBA Finals or when the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Florida Panthers in 2025 after Drake’s $1 million bet.

The hitmaker spoke on the rumor in 2025, saying "The Drake Curse is funny to me, honestly. First of all, the Raptors won a championship, so nobody could ever talk to me about the Drake Curse.” Drake also admitted that he is a "flawed sports bettor," and that it's "not my gift."
