General Hospital’s Emma (Braedyn Bruner) has decided to leave Port Charles to inform her parents about what is happening with her grandmother, Anna (Finola Hughes).
The most recent episode of the ABC soap featured Emma telling her boyfriend, Gio (Giovanni Mazza), that she had to tell her parents, Robin (Kimberly McCullough) and Patrick (Jason Thompson), about Anna's mental health breakdown in person.

Since Patrick and Robin are in California, it means Emma has to leave town. Emma’s latest declaration has brought up the question of whether Emma and Bruner are leaving the ABC soap.
The good news is that neither the character nor the actress are leaving the show.
General Hospital fans don’t need to worry that Emma is gone for good, or that this is the end of the burgeoning romance between Emma and Gio. Emma exiting Port Charles is simply storyline dedicated as the drama surrounding Anna heats up.
As Parade reported, last week, Emma, Felicia (Kristina Wagner), and Mac (John J. York) were forced to leave Anna in a mental health facility amid her breakdown. What they don’t know is that Anna’s only having the break because Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) tortured her into believing the evil Faison (Anders Hove) is still alive.
Bruner and Hughes delivered powerhouse performances as Anna pushed her granddaughter away, breaking Emma’s heart. Fans can expect more of the same from the two actresses as the next chapter in this storyline begins.

General Hospital co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, teased the current Anna storyline in their 2026 preview with TV Insider. However, all parties involved are keeping details of what’s coming under wraps.
There is speculation that Anna’s current crisis will lead to Robert's death as the tribute to Tristan Rogers looms. The beloved soap star died last summer, but the character of Robert is still alive on the ABC soap.
ABC executive Nathan Varni gave fans an update on the tribute episodes in January, saying the writers are in the middle of weaving Robert’s death into a General Hospital storyline. Varni did not provide a specific time frame or date for the episodes honoring Rogers and Robert.
In the meantime, Emma may be off-screen for a bit as she deals with family drama, but the character and actress will be back on-screen before fans know it.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
