HYPE dropped 4.5% on its Binance listing day as whales moved large token blocks, then recovered to $94, up 6% for the week.

Hyperliquid Strategies bought 494,200 HYPE for $45.8 million the day after listing, part of its $16 million daily buying pattern.

HYPE hit its all-time high of $98 the day before Binance launched trading, giving early holders a near-perfect exit opportunity.

Binance began spot trading for Hyperliquid (CRYPTO: HYPE) on September 24, 2026. Right after the Hyperliquid Binance listing, HYPE fell about 4.5% as major holders moved large HYPE blocks. The next day, Hyperliquid Strategies, which holds HYPE as its main treasury asset, bought 494,200 HYPE, totaling $45.8 million over 16 hours.

Since then, HYPE has partially recovered, trading at $94, up 6.4% this week. The question remains: did the Binance listing attract new buyers, or did it give early investors an exit opportunity?

Binance Listed HYPE a Day After Its All-Time High

Binance opened three trading pairs for HYPE, allowing transactions against USDT, USDC, and the Turkish lira. A spot trading pair enables buyers to exchange one asset directly for another without leverage or a fixed expiry. As a result, Binance users can now buy HYPE without transferring funds to Hyperliquid's own exchange. Additionally, Binance labeled HYPE with its Seed Tag, indicating that the token is considered more volatile than its typical listings.

Traders had already pushed HYPE to several new highs earlier in the month, peaking at $98 on September 23, the day before Binance announced the pairs and opened trading. Overall, HYPE has surged nearly 280% so far in 2026. Many potential new buyers had already purchased before the listing, creating an opportunity for early holders to sell.

On September 24, HYPE dipped to around $92, roughly 6% lower than its all-time high. At this price, HYPE's market valuation stood at about $23 billion, making it the 10th largest cryptocurrency, though it still trails behind Solana.

HYPE Whales Moved Tokens as Binance Trading Opened

Large holders, commonly referred to as whales, transferred substantial amounts of HYPE during the listing process. Such actions are often interpreted as signals that more selling may be imminent. Typically, whales transfer tokens to an exchange when they intend to sell, though it remains uncertain how many of these coins actually reached exchanges. Binance's order books allow these holders to sell larger amounts with minimal price impact.

This is not the first time early supporters have taken profits during HYPE's rise. Earlier in September, Multicoin sold HYPE while it became a larger part of Hashdex's crypto ETF. Moreover, HYPE's supply continues to increase, as core team members have received monthly token unlocks since November 2025, adding more coins to the market on Binance.

Hyperliquid Strategies Bought $45.8 Million of HYPE on the Dip

Hyperliquid Strategies now holds approximately 35.1 million HYPE, valued at around $3.2 billion. Over the past month, the company has purchased about 5.5 million HYPE for around $476 million, averaging around $16 million daily. Therefore, its recent $45.8 million purchase fits within a pattern of consistent buying.

However, purchases by a treasury company don't necessarily reflect overall demand as much as new investor interest does. Hyperliquid Strategies raises capital specifically for buying one token, so its acquisitions are influenced by its funding. By contrast, a trader choosing HYPE over other options on Binance sends a stronger message about the token's market appeal.

Hyperliquid's exchange continues to grow. The platform reported $820 million in yearly revenue as of April 2026. Additionally, it uses a significant portion of its trading fees to buy HYPE on the open market. However, HYPE trading on Binance does not contribute to those fees since it takes place on Binance's own order books rather than Hyperliquid's.

Was the Hyperliquid Binance Listing a Catalyst or an Exit?

For some large holders, the Binance listing may have served as an exit strategy. HYPE reached its all-time high a day before trading started, and whales shifted tokens immediately as the new trading pairs activated, contributing to the 4.5% drop. Despite this, HYPE has rebounded to $94 as Hyperliquid Strategies invested $45.8 million in the token, suggesting that the recovery may have strong institutional backing.

If whale transfers slow and HYPE climbs back above its previous high of $98 without further major purchases from Hyperliquid Strategies, it would indicate that new Binance buyers are driving demand. Conversely, if HYPE rises only in response to treasury purchases, the listing could be seen more as an exit opportunity for early holders, potentially pushing the price back toward $92 and leaving buyers at the $98 high about 6% below their initial purchase.
