If you’ve ever peeked into someone else’s tote and felt a little jolt of recognition—that stray tube of lip balm, the crumpled receipts, the just-in-case snack—you’ll love what Dylan Efron just revealed. The 34-year-old reality TV star and adventure lover was stopped on the streets of New York City for an episode of What's In My Bag and happily unzipped the duffle bag he’s carried nearly everywhere for almost eight years.

Dressed in a white muscle tee, black pants, a leather belt and a backwards white hat, Efron pulled out one item after another, mixing practical essentials with keepsakes that turn a bag into a personal time capsule. Here’s everything he shared, according to his interview.

The canned cocktail he can’t travel without

First out of the bag? A drink. “You want a Sun Cruiser?” Efron asked, pulling out two cans. His favorite flavor is the Classic Iced Tea + Vodka, and he made sure everyone knew he was ahead of the curve on this one.

“I was early on the appreciation for Sun Cruisers,” he boasted.

His passport, not a Real ID

Next, Efron pulled out his passport and explained that he uses it in place of the new Real ID now required to fly domestically.

“I put my foot down,” he laughed. “I was like, ‘I’m just gonna travel with this instead.’”

It’s a small rebellion, but a relatable one. Here’s the thing—if you already have a passport, you can use it for domestic flights too, which spares you a trip to the DMV. Worth remembering the next time you’re dreading that renewal line.

A film camera for capturing memories

TheTraitors alum then reached for his Contax T2 film camera. “Which I take everywhere with me,” he said.

The last photos on it? Snapshots from a recent trip to Norway and Newfoundland, which he happily flipped through during the interview. In an age of endless phone photos, there’s something charming about still choosing film—waiting weeks to see how a moment turned out, then holding a real print in your hands.

A pocketful of ChapStick

Efron admitted to a habit many of us can relate to: hoarding lip balm.

“I never travel without ChapStick and I feel exposed because I have so many right now,” he said, pulling out two handfuls. “Yeah, I like ChapStick!”

If you’ve ever dug through your purse and found six tubes of lip balm hiding in every corner, you’re in very good company.

A mystery supplement

From the bottom of his bag came a single loose supplement. “I don’t know what it is,” the Dancing With the Stars alum admitted—a relatable moment for anyone who’s ever fished a rogue vitamin out of a coat pocket and wondered how it got there.

A fresh appreciation for cash

Efron also shared his newfound love of good old-fashioned paper money.

“I’ve never walked around with cash in my life and I just kind of discovered it,” he explained. “I love going to the store and it being like, $19, and I’m like [counting bills].”

There’s something oddly satisfying about paying with cash—no beeping card readers, no app updates, just a quick exchange and you’re on your way.

Sneakers, always

He also whipped out a pair of “really lightweight” New Balance sneakers. “If I’m traveling and packing shoes, I’ll always put them in my backpack,” he said. A smart move for anyone who’s ever been stuck in stiff shoes an hour into a long travel day.

A soccer ball, just in case

Yes, an actual soccer ball came out of the duffle. “I was hoping I could kick the ball around,” Efron told the interviewer, before laughing, “That’s pretty unhinged.”

Unhinged or not, it’s a sweet reminder that staying playful is its own kind of self-care.

“I love a good vampire series,” he shared. “It’s really good.”
