Maison de Carine New York, a 4,200-square-foot creative studio and intimate event venue in New York City celebrated its debut dinner on Oct. 14.
To mark the occasion, celebrity event planner Marcy Blum, and James Beard Award-winning chef, restaurateur and author Kwame Onwuachi teamed up with Carine Krawiec, founder of Maison de Carine.
“It was a true feast for the eyes," Krawiec tells PEOPLE of the ultra-exclusive event.
New York City just got a stunning new event space!
Maison de Carine — the luxury bespoke tabletop brand behind the Met Gala and celebrity weddings, including Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s three-day Palm Beach extravaganza, and Jennifer Gates’ nuptials to Nayel Nassar — celebrated the debut of Maison de Carine New York, a 4,200-square-foot creative studio and intimate event venue in the heart of Union Square on Oct. 14.
“After years of designing for the world’s most exclusive parties, I wanted to create something more personal, something meant to be shared, Carine Krawiec, founder of Maison de Carine, tells PEOPLE. "The space is a love letter to beauty, creativity, and family. It’s a place to break bread, ignite conversation, and honor the innovation of our peers."

To celebrate the grand opening, celebrity event planner Marcy Blum, whose long list of clients includes LeBron James, the Gates Family, Billy Joel, George Soros, Katie Lee Biegel and the Rockefeller family planned the starry event, while James Beard Award-winning chef, restaurateur, and author Kwame Onwuachi prepared a family-style tasting dinner for an exclusive group, debuting his new Kwame Onwuachi Catering offerings.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, including oxtail and crab rangoon, curried goat patties and lobster rolls as they watched Onwuachi, who was a constant on Top Chef in 2015, and his team prepare dinner in the open concept, Calacatta Verde Marble-clad kitchen, complete with a 14-foot custom Mediterranean olive tree, which was crafted in homage to Carine’s grandfather.
The modern maximalist tablescape featured layers of textures, unexpected serving pieces, custom leather place cards, stacked place settings and vases intentionally left flower-free to focus on the maximalist tabletop and once-in-a-lifetime meal.

“The table design was an extension of the menu. Chef Kwame Onwuachi’s food is layered with story and flavor, and we mirrored that with visual layers and rich textures,” adds Krawiec.
Guests dined around one long feasting table. When they sat, inside a drawer at each place setting was a hidden custom-etched Maison de Carine plate describing the menu, and personally signed by Onwuachi, whose restaurants include Shaw Bijou, Kith and Kin, Tatiana and Dōgon.
The meal, which included Piri Piri salad, truffle braised short rib, curried cod, coconut mussels curry, and eggplant schnitzel, was served family style and sides included BBQ greens, beef bacon, candied cipollini, Nasturtium Jamaican coconut rice and pigeon peas. Each place setting had its own unique set of china, each complementing the other but as different as the guest it was intended for.

“The design was surreal but grounded. We were inspired by Salvador Dalí’s world, but we brought in earth tones, organic textures, dried florals, and imperfect shapes to reflect our roots and the energy of the space,” says Krawiec.
“Every choice, even the serveware, was a conversation. We wanted the food to feel styled in every way. The goal was to enhance what was already beautiful, like the wine-toned plate that made the fiery sauce of the piri-piri salad pop," adds Krawiec.
Reflecting on the evening, “It was a true feast for the eyes," she says. "Afro-Caribbean elements met layered textures, tropical hints, and muted jewel tones. Every idea found its way into the final design.”
