Kate Middleton and Prince William’s latest state banquet portrait features two new twists.

The black-and-white photo was taken by Greg Williams.

It was shot at Frogmore House, which is located near Windsor Castle.

Kate Middleton and Prince William posed for a customary portrait following the latest state banquet—but this time, it featured two new twists. On October 20, the British royal family hosted Haitham bin Tariq at Windsor Castle, marking the first official visit from an Omani ruler in 44 years.

The new photo gives fans an inside look at Frogmore House—which is located near the palace—with the Prince and Princess of Wales backdropped by an opulent staircase. For the first time, the couple’s state banquet portrait was in black in white, and they also hired a new photographer for the occasion: Greg Williams, who’s best known for his intimate portraits of Hollywood stars.

Sharing the portrait on their joint Instagram account yesterday, Kate and William wrote: “Ready for tonight’s State Banquet in Windsor.”

Kate lit up the room in a sunshine yellow gown for the white-tie soirée. Her Elie Saab dress included a built-in cape and braiding at the neckline, as well as a daring keyhole cutout. She styled the pleated silhouette with the Queen Mary Lover’s Knot tiara, a favorite of hers. Worth an estimated $135 million, it was also frequently worn by Princess Diana.

Earlier in the day, Kate opted for an all-green ensemble as a nod to Oman’s flag. The princess rewore a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coatdress—which she previously sported in 2022 and 2025—along with a Juliette Botterill fascinator.

Kate’s other accessories included a quilted Chanel purse, a pair of Cassandra Goad earrings, and another heirloom piece that once belonged to Diana: The Queen Alexandra Three Feathers Brooch. The diamond- and emerald-encrusted piece dates back to 1863, with Tatler reporting that it was gifted to Princess Alexandra of Denmark upon her marriage to King Edward VII.

The brooch depicts the ostrich feathers that make up the Prince of Wales’s heraldic badge, and it is surrounded by diamonds and emeralds. It was given to Diana when she married Charles—then the Prince of Wales—and Kate was given the brooch after becoming the Princess of Wales in 2022.

The piece comes with a drop emerald, which Kate occasionally removes from the brooch when she wears it; Diana also removed or added the emerald to the brooch depending on her outfit, and she often wore the pin as a pendant.
