Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi are keeping their relationship low-key while spending time together in private settings, a source tells PEOPLE

"They're not trying to turn this into some big public thing," the source says of their relationship

The pair were recently seen on a tropical getaway in Hawaii and on a double date with Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet

Things are just starting to heat up between Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi.

Days after the model, 30, and Oscar-nominated actor, 28, were spotted spending time in public together, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively that the pair are in the process of figuring out their relationship — but they still have strong feelings for one another.

"They're not trying to turn this into some big public thing," the source explains. "They enjoy spending time together in more private settings."

"They want to keep things low-key while they're figuring things out naturally," continues the insider. "Kendall really likes him though."

A source previously told PEOPLE in late April that Jenner and Elordi have "been hanging out and getting to know each other the last couple months."

The speculation about their relationship comes amid fans closely tracking their movements and connections after reports of them being together at the first weekend of Coachella. Months before, they were seen deep in conversation at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Neither has publicly commented on the relationship speculation, but they were spotted enjoying a tropical getaway at Nourish Hanalei on the island of Kaua'i, Hawaii.

Photos posted by DeuxMoi showed the Euphoria star at a farm, and another photo of Jenner walking on the property. Fans who saw the two in Hawaii told DeuxMoi that the rumored couple was "so cute together."

During their trip, Jenner and Elordi were seen staying at a resort and going for coffee and shopping at a wine shop, according to DeuxMoi.

Soon after, the couple was spotted out in Los Angeles on a double date with Kendall's sister, Kylie Jenner, and Kylie's boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet. In more photos shared by DeuxMoi, the group covered their faces from paparazzi, but Elordi and Kendall were in the front seat of a car leaving a party, and Kylie, 28, and Timothée, 30, were in the back.

"They have a lot of fun together," a source told PEOPLE of the two couples, who have "similar personalities and lifestyles," so they "all really get along."

Oscar nominees Chalamet and Elordi "already know each other and were friendly before Kendall and Jacob were getting close," the previous source said. "They spent a lot of time around each other during the award season and naturally run in similar circles."

Kylie has been dating Chalamet since 2023 and often joins her boyfriend at awards shows, so she had also spent time with Elordi "and really likes him," the insider added. "She's excited Kendall is spending time with him."
