Meghan Markle faced criticism for what was described as a "silly" decision following her appearance on a well-known TV program.

The Duchess of Sussex served as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia last month during an immunity challenge before the semi-final round. Competitors were tasked with elevating a basic ingredient into a dish "fit for a duchess."

Available ingredients included carrots, Jerusalem artichokes, Brussels sprouts, celeriac, Australian honey, macadamia nuts, quince, lemons and apples, mandarins and strawberries. Meghan joined MasterChef Australia judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli on the panel. Chef Yeow has since broken her silence on rumors of Meghan's on-set meltdown.

However, Meghan's participation in the show drew criticism from several royal commentators, many of whom argued she wasn't the ideal choice for the program.

A PR specialist has now offered her assessment of whether Meghan's appearance proved successful.

Renae Smith, an Australian-born PR and branding expert who founded The Atticism, told the Daily Express, "My overall take? It was a silly move on a silly show, but it did no real harm."

Smith, who previously competed on the show herself, noted that MasterChef is a credentials-based program, constructed "entirely around measurable skill" and that Meghan's sole qualification was "being famous and liking food."

She further suggested the Duchess of Sussex didn't truly engage the Australian viewership despite the ratings numbers.

The specialist elaborated, "Has she captivated the Australian audience? No, and I think we need to be careful not to confuse curiosity with conversion.

"Yes, the ratings jumped, and it was reportedly the show's best Sunday audience in weeks, but people tuning in to see what a duchess does on MasterChef is not the same as people warming to her.

"That is not captivation, that is rubbernecking. She hasn't won anyone over, but she hasn't lost anyone either, because the people watching had already made up their minds long ago."

Meanwhile, Prince William is 'sickened' by Meghan's social media posts featuring Princess Diana's grave.
