Some Netflix subscribers have canceled their memberships following the axing of five particular programs.
Viewers enjoy an abundance of options as the streaming giant consistently produces new programming ranging from sinister thrillers to comedies and historical dramas. However, users typically gravitate toward certain beloved shows they return to repeatedly, often wondering why these series ended despite their massive popularity.
Netflix recently canceled The Duffer Brothers' new project, The Boroughs, after just one season, leading subscribers to gather on Reddit to examine the axed shows they desperately hope will return. From star-studded dramadies to compelling psychological thrillers, an extensive selection of titles sparked discussion among disappointed fans. Here are several of the most popular programs Netflix audiences would most want to see resurrected.
• Donald Trump's glamorous aide accused of 'fueling his delusions'
• 'Fox News can’t cope' as viewers slam network's attempt to play up Trump's fair attendance
Mindhunter
The title cited most often in the discussion was Mindhunter, with one fan proclaiming, "100% no question about it." Another supporter commented, "When is the answer not Mindhunter?" while a third declared, "MINDHUNTER 100% One of the greatest shows of all time."
The psychological thriller, based on the 1995 true crime book, debuted in 2017 and ran for two seasons, reports the Mirror. A potential third season was put on indefinite pause in 2020, although in 2023, executive producer David Fincher verified the show was definitively over.

"I'm very proud of the first two seasons. But it's a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn't attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment," Fincher said during an interview with Forbes.
He added, "I don't blame them, they took risks to get the show off the ground, gave me the means to do Mank the way I wanted to do it and they allowed me to venture down new paths with The Killer. It's a blessing to be able to work with people who are capable of boldness. The day our desires are not the same, we have to be honest about parting ways."
Kaos
A darkly comedic drama based on Greek mythology, Kaos featured a stellar ensemble cast led by Jeff Goldblum as Zeus and Janet McTeer as Hera. The eight-episode series launched on Netflix in August 2024, only to be canceled just two months afterward following a single season.

Although it remained in the Netflix top 10 charts for four weeks, the program struggled to generate significant viewership numbers, leaving cast members completely heartbroken. One Reddit user wrote, "I loved how it ended, but they left it just open enough for so much more. SO creative and different."
Another fumed, "They cancelled Kaos, and I cancelled Netflix. It was the last draw, they kill everything I love and I will not give them one more penny of my money."

GLOW was a comedy-drama program based on the 1980s syndicated women's professional wrestling organization, Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW), established by David McLane. After being greenlit for a fourth and final season in 2019, Netflix canceled the show in October 2020 due to financial and logistical challenges caused by the Covid pandemic.

"COVID has killed actual humans. It's a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show," series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch told Deadline.
They added, "Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW. We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that's gone."
One devoted fan wrote on Reddit, "They ended it on the worst note. I think about it all the time." While another fumed, "I can't believe they did us dirty. I'll never forgive Netflix for this."
Santa Clarita Diet
Santa Clarita Diet was a comedy horror show starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, focusing on a married couple working as real estate agents. Their world was turned upside down when wife Sheila (Barrymore) started showing symptoms of becoming a zombie.
The series was axed after three seasons in April 2019, sparking a #SaveSantaClaritaDiet movement on Twitter, with supporters rallying to secure a fourth season pickup. On the day the cancellation was announced, the show's creator Victor Fresco released a playful statement, saying, "Netflix took a chance on this odd show and for that we will always be grateful.

"They were supportive, ever positive, and appreciative of our work. Until about noon today. Still, they were just one phone call away from being a perfect studio. Not bad."
Netflix said in a statement shared by Variety, "The world had never known a 'zom-com' until Santa Clarita Diet, and we're indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix."
One Reddit fan championed it as the show they'd most want to see return, commenting, "SANTA CLARITA DIET! Craziest show with a nutty premise. The chemistry between the family was great. It was the first time I was shocked that a show was cancelled." Another chimed in, "I wish they could have squeaked out a short Season 4 just to wrap things up. It will never happen now."
Archive 81
Archive 81 was a supernatural horror program that got the chop after only one season. Adapted from the podcast of the same title that launched in 2016, the series tracked Dan Turner (portrayed by Mamoudou Athie), who examined video recordings from 1994.
Dan became entangled in a dangerous enigma revolving around a vanishing and a mysterious cult. The cancellation proved quite shocking, considering the show had secured spots in both Nielsen and Netflix's weekly Top 10 charts following its premiere.

Deadline reported, "With the streamer laser-focused on analysing viewing versus cost in its renewal decisions, the number of eyeballs Archive 81 drew possibly did not meet the threshold Netflix had set for the series based on its budget." One Reddit fan remarked, "How it wasn't renewed for a second season is beyond me."
While another chimed in, "Archive 81 was so damn good and left on such a massive cliff hanger. The writers had to think they would get picked up for a second season. Such a shame. I stopped subbing to Netflix because of the cancelling shows early."
