Nicky says what makes the holidays fun is spending them with her children and "getting to relive Christmas through sweet little innocent eyes"

The holidays are a major celebration in the Hilton family — and for Nicky Hilton Rothschild, they’ve only gotten more meaningful as the family continues to grow.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at Kathy Hilton and Nicky’s annual Pajama Party in Los Angeles, Calif., on Tuesday, Nov. 4, the fashion designer, 42, opened up about the joy of celebrating the season now that she and two of her siblings have young children.

“I think the holidays really, really get fun as the family has grown,” says Nicky. “And all of the children and getting to relive Christmas through sweet little innocent eyes.”

Nicky shares that she and husband James Rothschild head back to California from New York with their children each year to spend the season together with her siblings — Paris Hilton, 44, Barron Hilton, 35, and Conrad Hilton, 31 — and their families.

After her July 2015 marriage to Rothschild, the socialite welcomed their first daughter, Lily-Grace Victoria Rothschild, a year later on July 8, 2016. Nicky and James had their second child, Theodora “Teddy” Marilyn Rothschild, on Dec. 20, 2017. Roughly five years after the birth of their second baby girl, Nicky gave birth to their son, Chasen Rothschild, in June 2022.

“My siblings and I have started our own family tradition,” Nicky says. “My daughter's birthday is December 20, so we live in New York, coming home for the holidays. We all do, me, Barron, Paris, Conrad, all go.”

One magical tradition has quickly become a favorite as the family enjoys taking “Sprinter vans to Disneyland.”

“We have this annual trip,” she explains. “And we are there from when it opens, and we even spend the night, and it's so much fun.”

Her mom, Kathy, 66, beams while listening to the story. “And in the morning, do the kids want to go back?” she asks.

“Yes,” Nicky says. “We go to the Mickey Mouse Café, have Mickey Mouse pancakes, and do it all over again.”

Kathy adds that even as an adult, Disneyland still feels special. “I love it. Even as a grown-up, I love… I get on Main Street and forget Rodeo or Fifth Avenue,” she says.

Kathy also teased the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, calling the trailer “very real and raw.”

“We were watching today, Nicky and I, the trailer,” Kathy shares. “There’s no exaggerating, and you could feel there was a lot — I did have a couple of the girls call me upset. They weren't sure that so-and-so did or said this or that. I didn't really look at it that way because when it's said about you directly, you're more sensitive about it. So, for sure, I mean, people were themselves 100 percent. There's no trying to get camera time or anything. They were very relaxed, I think this year, as they should be, but I mean, very real and raw.”

Kathy says she felt a strong sense of closeness among the cast. “I really genuinely care about even the new girls that I don’t know that well,” she explains. “I kind of feel like there’s a sisterhood.”

She was especially moved watching how quickly the women forgave one another. “I admire that these girls can, 15 minutes later, put that on the back burner,” she says. “In real life, that doesn’t always happen.”

Nicky and Kathy, together with QVC, hosted their annual Pajama Party featuring festive attire from the Printfresh x Kathy Hilton Collection with a special edition pajama set.

Celebrities & VIPs enjoyed delectable bites and drinks from Moët & Chandon, The Caviar Co. and Mrs. Prindables gourmet apples while relaxing on Lovesac loungers or engaging in a friendly game of Mahjong by Oh My Mahjong.

Despite the sparkle of the season, Nicky keeps gift-giving simple for her kids.

“I get them two to four gifts,” she says.

“And they’re happy,” Kathy adds, noting that too many presents can be overwhelming for little ones. “Kids get tired, they get cranky when there’s too much stimulation.”

For Nicky, the most meaningful holiday tradition is the simplest one, which is being together. “I don't believe in buying a million gifts and spoiling my children,” she explains.
