NJ Transit shut out non-soccer commuters during FIFA World Cup games
Commuters will have to find transportation alternatives during the eight World Cup matches, as NJ Transit announced that it will only serve World Cup ticket holders before and after games.
Starting four hours before each game, there will be no outbound rail service from Penn Station New York for commuters, NJ Transit announced.
Then, for three hours after each match, NJ Transit rail service en route to New York will stop at Newark Penn Station.
What can NJ commuters do during World Cup games?
From New York to New Jersey, commuters can use the PATH train service from the 33rd Street Station for free, as well as NJ TRANSIT bus service from Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Those traveling from New Jersey to New York can take the PATH at Newark Penn Station at no additional cost.
To get to Newark Penn Station using the Morris and Essex Lines and the Montclair-Boonton Line, get off at Newark Broad Street and transfer to the Newark Light Rail, which provides service to Newark Penn Station.
