The three artists are included in the 10 nominees appearing on the ballot for the first time

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation revealed the list of 17 performers who will be considered for induction in the class of 2026.

The nominees include The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, Billy Idol, INXS and Iron Maiden.

Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Oasis, Pink, Sade, Shakira, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan are also nominated.

Ten of the nominees are appearing on the ballot for the first time, including Buckley, Collins, Etheridge, Hill, INXS, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.

The inductees will be revealed in April, along with those receiving the Musical Influence Award, Musical Excellence Award and the Ahmet Ertegun Non Performer Award.

"This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture”, said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a press release.

“Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this Fall,” he added.

Artists and bands become eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording, per the press release.

Nominee ballots will be distributed to a voting panel of over 1,200 artists, historians

A voting panel composed of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals chose the inductees. The release states that the nominees will be evaluated on their impact on music culture, influence on other musicians and the longevity of their careers.

The 2026 induction ceremony will take place in the fall with exact dates to be announced later.

Last year’s inductees included Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.

Lauper reflected on her nomination in an interview with PEOPLE, saying, "You know, I've been singing rock and roll most of my life, so I know I'm a rocker.

"I even got in trouble several times in my life for not quitting the rock band. I got thrown out of a jazz school because I wouldn't quit that rock band," the "Time After Time" singer recalled.
