Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams is clapping back at Andy Cohen for name-dropping him while hosting CNN's New Year's Eve special with Anderson Cooper.

The 65-year-old politician described Cohen's remarks as a "sloppy drunken rant" and urged the Watch What Happens Live host to "seek help" after he gave Adams' term as mayor a shady sendoff on New Year's Eve Live.

"My response to [Cohen]: AA," Adams wrote on social media Thursday. "Another sloppy drunken rant. If anyone actually cares about him, they'll tell him to get help. New Yorkers aren't laughing with him. They are concerned about him."

Adams continued, "Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again. Seek help. AAA: Andy's Alcohol Anonymous."

A representative for Cohen didn't immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment Friday.

On the CNN special, Cohen began celebrating "the final moments of Mayor Adams' chaotic" term before Cooper and The Office alum B.J. Novak quickly intervened and tried to corral the Bravo bigwig.

"Oh no," Cooper said, seemingly aware of where Cohen was going. "No! I'm out. Don't!"

"I just want to say, he got his pardons," Cohen maintained. "Great! You got your pardons! Go off into the sunset! We'll fiddle with what we have, with what you've left us with. Go dance away. We'll see you at all the parties!"

Adams did not actually receive a pardon, but a federal judge did dismiss a corruption case against him with prejudice in April, following calls for the charges to be dropped by the Trump administration.

Reacting to Cohen's remarks, Cooper simply said, "He can't help himself."

Cohen later praised Adams for his contributions toward denting "the rat population" in New York City during his term. Adams became the first mayor to ever appoint a "rat czar" to tackle the city's rodent population, in 2023.

"But isn't that a metaphor of sorts?" Cohen said, drawing another groan from Cooper. "I mean, let's call it as it is."

New York City’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, was sworn in just minutes after the start of the new year, in a private ceremony that was held at a decommissioned subway station.

"Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously," Mamdani said at his inauguration later that morning. "We may not always succeed, but never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try."
