Roast of Kevin Hart review. 11 things people will talk about Monday
The Roast of Kevin Hart was a memoralbe one.
And judging by social media, it was watched my many. The show offered something for everyone, and while it was a little off color and very irreverent, it was a roast. If you like that stuff, you probably loved it.
Kevin Hart has a lot of friends and they were all out in full force. Let's take a look at 10 things people will be talking about on Monday after the Roast of Kevin Hart.
1. Tom Brady kicks off the roast
The star of the first roast kicked off this roast, and he came out hot. He said he was a much bigger star than Hart, called Cowboy fans bandwagon jumpers and host Shane Gillis the real "Philly Special," which was the play the Eagles used to beat Brady in the Super Bowl. Brady didn't stick around long, but he left a mark.
2. Jeff Ross beat cancer
This may have been well known before tonight, but Ross told a nice story that Hart suggested Ross see a doctor, and when he did, colon cancer was discovered. He's doing better now, he said, and that was great to hear. Ross is very mean at roasts, but he is well loved. Very good news from the Roast master.
3. Chelsea Handler and Tony Hinchcliffe don't like each other
Everyone was stiff and went after each other, but these two really seemed to go after each other with gusto. She was brutal and funny, he had a brutal response. They seemed like personal attacks. The rest of the show seemed in good fun, but they seemed out for blood.
4. Lizzo can do comedy
We knew she was a great singer, we knew she could play the flute, but Lizzo showed a lot of skill as a comedian. And after her great set, host Gillis hit her with a shot. "People say Lizzo is washed up," but he said "the correct term is beached." Some jokes were mean, but she shrugged it off. Lizzo is very talented, now add comedian to the resume.

5. Pete Davidson has thick skin
I know his father died during the Sept. 11 attacks and it's hard hearing the jokes. And there were many. Those were the harsh ones. The other jokes aimed at him were all the beautiful women he dated. I guess you get the good with the bad. I'm not sure I could take those jokes. He's better than I am.
6. Katt Williams showed up
This was the biggest take away for me. These two guys have been feuding, so when he came out, it was cool to see. Katt is one of the best comedians out there and he showed why during his set.
7. Williams and Hart are friends again
When these two men hugged and shook hands, it was the moment of the night for me. I'm happy their friends. Both are talented comedians and they should be friends. No reason for those two to feud.
8. The Rock loves Kevin Hart
Dwayne The Rock Johnson is a weird dude. Some of his jokes were uncomfortable. But when he was talking about Kevin Hart, you could tell he really does like the guy. The Rock is hard to read because he can be very, very phony, but I didn't get that feeling tonight. I thought the Rock was good.
9. Kevin Hart has a lot of sponsors
At the end of the show, Hart thanked all the people who pay him. I think that was about half of the three-hour show. This guy has a lot of endorsements. Like an insane amount. It's crazy he can make movies, and he has made a ton of them, with all the other committments he has.
10. Kevin Hart has a lot of friends
While this was a pretty raw roast, and Kevin Hart did throw some haymakers at the end of the show, this roast was mostly good natured ribbing. The only one who seemed like he wasn't loved was Tony Hinchcliffe. I'm not sure if that's his gimmick though. Could be. Everyone else was loved, even while they were destroying each other. I'm not sure this was as good as the Tom Brady roast, but it was a great way to spend Sunday night. Also, Kevin should be proud he represented Philly very well. Not only did he have "The Roots" and Meek Mill, but there were Eagles references and Philly Cheesesteak shoutouts. Nice job from the former George Washington High School point guard. Ted Silary said you could really play.
