Rod Stewart showered praises on King Charles during an event in London. The singer congratulated the monarch on his successful four-day trip to the USA. While appreciating King Charles, Stewart appeared to take a dig at President Donald Trump.

Rod Stewart praises King Charles for his US visit

In a video posted by Daily Mail’s Rebecca English on X, Rod Stewart had high regard for King Charles. The “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” hitmaker attended The King’s Trust’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on Monday, May 11. The event was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. While greeting King Charles to praise him for his US tour, Stewart made a cheeky comment.

“May I say, well done in the Americas,” the 81-year-old told the King. He further added, “You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place.” King Charles appeared to smile at the comment while Stewart laughed. Subsequently, many are taking the “rat bag” line as a joke on Donald Trump. For the unversed, it was Trump who organized the King’s state visit from April 27 to April 30, 2026.

Stewart and Trump were once on friendly terms and had been photographed several times. However, the musician made it clear in his interview last year that they are no longer friends. Radio Times asked him, “how does he feel about performing in Trump’s America?” Stewart answered, “I’m not a great fan of Trump.” The father of eight continued, “I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house.” The rocker shared how they are neighbours in Florida.

“He’s always been a bit of a man’s man. I liked him for that. But he didn’t, as far as I’m concerned, treat women very well,” Stewart explained. The Grammy Award winner added, “But since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.” Stewart also shared he doesn’t see Trump as a friend anymore. “No, I can’t any more. As long as he’s selling arms to the Israelis – and he still is,” he expressed.
