Sunny Hostin and The View producer Brian Teta aren't getting tightlipped on the nips and tucks they've seen on Hollywood stars who visit the show's Hot Topics table.

During a discussion Monday on the show's companion podcast Behind the Table (below), Teta brought up significant buzz that bubbled up after actress and Real Housewives personality Denise Richards went public with news that she had a facelift that dramatically changed her appearance.

Hostin, 57, called the reveal "aspirational," because it's sometimes obvious that stars have gone under the knife.

"If someone looks at you and you look different, you look refreshed, I think it's appropriate, as a public figure, to say, this is what I did. What's the big deal? What's with the secret? You look better," said Hostin, who has long been open about smaller cosmetic enhancements she's had over the years.

She continued, "I think sometimes people don't want to be honest about it because you're going to be judged. But you're going to be judged anyway. I don't care as much about the judgment, I think some people are pretty sensitive about it." She urged stars to "just be honest about it" in the future.

Teta then quipped that "we have had people here, sometimes, and it's clear stuff has happened," to which Hostin replied, "They've denied it. Often. But it's obvious that it's been done!"

Hostin doubled down on her earlier observation, telling Teta that "they do it because they don't want to be shamed, because our society does do that. They shame people for doing plastic surgery."

Teta turned the conversation back to his View family by playfully calling out "freaks of nature" like the show's own Joy Behar, who, at 83, hasn't had any work done, Teta said.

Richards opened up about her facelift in an interview with Allure, in which she said she "wanted to put things back up, where they were before" the surgery. "Being in the public eye since my 20s, people know what I look like—a facelift is not something that I could hide," she said.

Plastic surgery has long been a topic of conversation on daytime talk shows, with Jane Fonda even making headlines after Megyn Kelly asked her about plastic surgery procedures during the Hollywood icon's guest spot on the former Megyn Kelly Today show to promote her 2017 film Our Souls at Night.

"I read that you said you felt you're not proud to admit you've had work done. Why not?" Kelly asked Fonda, who quickly replied, "We really want to talk about that now?"

The audience and Kelly laughed, while the latter praised Fonda's good looks. "Well, thanks. Good attitude. Good posture. Take care of myself," Fonda replied at the time. "But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, Our Souls at Night, rather than plastic surgery."

The View airs weekdays on ABC. Listen to Hostin on the Behind the Table podcast above.
