‘Taylor Swift 2.0’ – Stephanie White Gets Candid About the Circus That Follows Caitlin Clark Everywhere
Caitlin Clark has undoubtedly brought unprecedented popularity to the WNBA. But her superstar status also means her days are super-busy with tons of activities besides basketball. Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White recently shared how life goes for the WNBA superstar.
Stephanie White Explains Why Caitlin Clark Is “Taylor Swift 2.0”
Clark’s life away from basketball has become almost as busy as her life on the court. She is signing autographs, meeting celebrities, and dealing with brand endorsements, making it extremely difficult for the Fever star to simply blend into the background.
White, speaking to The Athletic, recently compared Clark’s situation to Taylor Swift’s, pointing to the immense attention both stars face while still trying to focus on their work.
“An absurdity in the year 2026, no? The face of a women’s basketball boom time, on a screen somewhere, scoring or passing or talking to a State Farm stanchion pad or shooting a donut hole into Samuel L. Jackson’s latte,” Hamilton wrote.
Hamilton then highlighted another part of Clark’s life, where even a trip to a basketball game can turn into another celebrity moment.

“There she is, taking a Sharpie from the head of Fever security and signing dozens of autographs before playing in Atlanta, Dallas, and New York. There she is, meeting international soccer star Robert Lewandowski before a game and hugging “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis after it.
“Taylor Swift 2.0,” her coach, Stephanie White, concludes,” The Athletic reported.
The comparison may sound playful, but the numbers prove Clark attracts massive attention.
ESPN’s viewership for WNBA games jumped 17% from last year. The Fever has been a big part of that growth. Five games featuring Clark and the Fever averaged over 2 million viewers for the network.

Clark’s popularity also stretches well beyond the basketball court. She has endorsement deals with Nike, State Farm, Gatorade, Wilson, and Gainbridge, among others. Her Nike deal was reported to be worth $28 million over eight years and includes a signature shoe.
After an injury-shortened 2025 season in which she played just 13 games, Clark returned healthy in 2026. She played 40 games and averaged a career-high 22.3 points per game, meaning the nonstop attention was now following her through a full season on the court.
Besides, when Clark gets away from the cameras and onto the court, she has still given fans plenty to talk about. She scored a career-high 45 points with 10 assists against the Seattle Storm, becoming the first player in WNBA history to record at least 40 points and 10 assists in one game.
The Taylor Swift connection also goes beyond White’s comparison. Clark is a self-described Swiftie, and her love for the singer has even made its way into the Fever locker room.
After Indiana’s 2025 Commissioner’s Cup win, Clark and teammate Sydney Colson had a funny exchange over the team’s victory playlist, with Clark calling her a GOAT.
It is another small example of how Clark’s life has become part basketball and part pop culture. Her performances on the court matter, but so does everything that happens around her.

Still, the spotlight has not always been kind to Clark this season, as she attracted tons of criticism for her dismal performance in the Fever’s regular-season finale. The three-time All-Star ended the regular season on a rough note, scoring just 2 points on 1-of-12 shooting in the Fever’s 86-66 loss to the Minnesota Lynx.
Now, there is little time to dwell on it. Clark and the Fever will open the playoffs against A’ja Wilson and the No. 3 Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, Sept. 27, with Game 1 in Las Vegas.
