Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones were caught having an awkward exchange in a video that's circulating on social media.

After Mumford & Sons performed on the Today Show last week, Sheinelle, 48, revealed that although she didn't really know the rock band, she's now a fan. Co-host Jenna, 44, then chimed in, saying she knew them differently, prompting Sheinelle to divulge details from their meeting, saying, "Jenna decided to share with them..." However, fellow television star Jenna swooped in, snapping, "No, I didn't. No, I know what you mean, and we're not saying that. Remember? I got a text that said, 'Don't say that.''

Appearing to understand her slip-up, Sheinelle replied, "Oops!" This incident marks one of a few times Today Show viewers called out the morning anchors for "awkward" banter and "no chemistry," which some have labeled "insufferable" and "painful" to watch.

Reportedly, the colleagues work relationship is said to be "worse" behind-the-scenes, with an insider telling the Daily Mail, "It's no secret that Sheinelle and Jenna have had some tension on set."

The source added, "none of it is scripted," noting, "they've let it slip on camera but off camera, it's worse. They started out as close friends but have slowly started distancing themselves - those on set have definitely noticed."

Additionally, the insider revealed that the two would "sour'" since they "both have strong personalities," detailing their partnership as a "sisterly bond" that experiences "ups and downs."

Also, the source claimed, "sometimes they're the best of friends, sometimes they need space," expressing that the pair haven't been hanging out outside of work hours.

Sheinelle debuted as the fourth-hour co-host on January 12, and when she did, Jenna gave her a warm welcome, saying she was "so excited about this new iteration of the show" and "so happy" to have Sheinelle beside her.

"I've known [Sheinelle] for a decade but to get to fall even more in love with her will be, I think, a beautiful chapter in the show," she emphasized.

Sheinelle also had the same perspective, adding, "To have a show like this is beyond my wildest dreams. This is the real deal, and I get to do it with Jenna."

The television journalist took over for Hoda Kotb as permanent host after the latter left in January 25. Sheinelle became the permanent host after a rotation of celebrity fill-ins.

Sheinelle joined the Today Show team as a part of Weekend Today in 2014, becoming the co-host on Today's third hour in January 2019.
