Tori Spelling is opening about the cleanliness of the home she shares with her five kids

During the Feb. 6 episode of her iHeartRadio podcast, misSPELLING, the actress' cohost called her living arrangement a "borderline hoarder" situation

Spelling admits she needs help, but is confident she can maintain an organized lifestyle

Tori Spelling is opening up about the cleanliness of her home and weeks of nearly non-stop illnesses.

On Friday, Feb. 6, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 52, returned to her iHeartRadio podcast, misSPELLING, after a two month break. During the episode, the actress explained why she needed the extended hiatus.

“I know I have had a past of getting sick a lot and frequently, but this one took me down eight weeks,” she says. “I couldn't work.”

She adds of her five kids: “I mean it started with the five petri dishes that live in my house, but they bring things home, that's normal. And, you know, you work through it, you get sick.”

But during the episode, Spelling’s cohost, Amy Sugarman, alleges the the star's “lifestyle contributes to why you get sick so much.”

At one point, Sugarman asks Spelling to send a picture of the state of the house.

“Oh, it’s not good,” Sugarman says while looking at the image. “And I don’t want to be mean, but the Christmas tree is up.” To which Spelling replies, “Damn, I thought I cut that out.”

“You can see the bones in here, like the shelves could be really pretty, the living room could be really pretty. You have beautiful things,” Sugarman says. “You can’t even sit in there.”

She adds: “It’s borderline hoarder, I’m not gonna lie.”

Sugarman admits that she has “two stacks of s---” in her own home, but says Spelling has “400 stacks of s--- in the house right now.”

Spelling goes on to say that the den connected to her kitchen, where everyone “hangs and eats” is the one clean place inside, but everywhere else is not.Sugarman then presented a hypothetical, asking what would happen if the president of iHeartRadio requested a meeting at Spelling’s home.

“I would have to pass,” she says. “I’d be like, ‘Where, I’ll come to you wherever you are.’ I would change everything.”

She adds: “I stopped having people over.”

Spelling goes on to say that it hasn’t always been like this. When she was still with her ex-husband, Dean McDermott, he’d help keep the place organized.“When Dean and I were together and lived together, I was able to have a house that was presentable because he wouldn’t live like that,” Spelling says. “We were working at different times, so I had downtime when he’d work.”

The actress then went on to admit that she needs help. But once someone is able to come in and help her get organized, she’s confident she can maintain it.

“My busy, chaotic work and children lifestyle is not gonna change,” she says. “In fact, in the next year, there’s gonna be things coming up, it’s gonna be escalated. So I need to be on my A game and once someone comes in and does all this, yes, I can maintain it if I have someone helping me.”

This isn’t the first time Spelling has questioned if she’s really a “hoarder.” On the Jan. 7, 2025, episode of her other podcast 9021Omg, she had an honest conversation with Dr. Robin Zasio from the A&E show Hoarders about her inability to get rid of things.The year prior, she revealed she had about 50 storage units the size of “shipping containers” and an outstanding bill of $80,000. She ultimately needed to auction off the contents inside to pay the charge.
