Valerie Bertinelli is taking a break from dating.

The actress opened up to Pause Rewind about her love life at the premiere of her new film, Love, Again. When asked about a return to dating, she replied with a simple “Oh, hell no."

“2024 sucked the life out of me,” the Food Network star said. Bertinelli and her now ex-boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, broke up in November 2024.

For now, she is happy with her current bedmate.

“I sleep with a black cat. That tells you everything you about me. And I love that furry little 11 lbs," she said.

“I sleep with Batman,” she added, referencing the DC Comic character her feline is named after. “What do I need?”

The 66-year-old actress revealed more about her love life in her recently released memoir, Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect.

Bertinelli shared she “would love to have a great special love” in her life. “I have special loves in my life,” she continued.

“I have my son. I have my daughter-in-law. I have my brothers. I have my family. I have my girlfriends. I love them. But there's something about intimate love that I would love to have,” the actress said.

Bertinelli was married to Van Halen band member Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007. The couple had one child, Wolfgang Van Halen.

She remarried to financial planner TomVitale in 2011. They divorced in 2022.

In her memoir, Bertinelli revealed she “couldn’t crack the code of lasting love.”

“Romance has never been easy for me, never even sane,” she wrote. “It’s a messy math equation — love, marriage, divorce — and I’m terrible at math. Worse at marriage.”

If the Emmy Award-winning actress gets back out there, she knows she’ll need to be cautious.

“But I'm also really gun-shy, because, like I said, 2024 sucked the life out of me,” she said. “So, I'm gonna have to be really, really careful.”
